How to Draw a Tribal Phoenix

Start off by making two guide shapes, one for the head and another for the body. Draw the arch of the wings, then proceed on to step two.

You will now draw out the back part of the head and then color it in. Draw in the beak which should be solid in shape and in color. Leave a seam between the head and beak and an empty space for the eye.

Next, sketch out the shape of the body and this includes the wide spread wings. Draw and color in the back part of the head and body like so. This will create a solid look and prepare the phoenix for the tribal lining in further steps.

To create that fiery look within the phoenix we will create solid feathery shapes within the wings of the bird like you see here. Once the two fire like shapes are drawn and colored in, you can make another shape on the chest and belly of the bird.

You are almost done with drawing a tribal phoenix all you have to do here is draw in more of the wings. When you do this they should rise up and cup in to form a closed circular shape above the phoenix's head. Color in the wings, and make sure the ti

And lastly, draw out and color in the bottom half of the phoenix in a cool tribal manner like you see here. I wanted to create fire or flames that the bird is resting on. When all is complete, you can erase your mistakes.

Description: I thought I would try out my tribal drawing skills and make a lesson on something I haven't done yet and that is "how to draw a tribal phoenix", step by step. The phoenix is one of my all time favorite fantasy creatures and always will be. The meaning behind the phoenix is very powerful and even emotional. I love drawing tribal art which means I had a blast with this concept creation. Of course you can choose to alter the sketch if you like because I know how most of you love doing that.
