Step 1.


Start off with your guidelines and shapes. There should be an oblong shape for the head and then the shoulder and face guidelines.

Step 2.


Define the shape of Messi's head and face using the guides you just drew in step one. When you do this have the lining be jagged around the chin and jaw area. Also, draw in the shapes of the ears too.

Step 3.


Go ahead and draw in Messi's neck shape and then sketch in the bone detailing to the neck.

Step 4.


Here you will sketch out his very nice hairstyle which is in a long combed back do. You will also draw the hair line that frames the inside of the face. Messi also has nicely groomed facial hair so I want you to sketch out the lining for his hair as    

Step 5.


The eyebrows and eye shapes have to be drawn in next. Add definition around the eyes and along the forehead temples.

Step 6.


You will now create the shape of the nose and then give Messi some pupils.

Step 7.


Now draw in his mouth and the rest of the facial hair. Take your time, no need to rush.

Step 8.


For the last step you will work on getting the shoulders and some of the torso sketched out. He is wearing his Football or soccer jersey so be sure to draw in the lining on the shoulders and design to the shirt. Erase the mistakes and guides then you   

Step 9.


Here it is, the line art. Now you can have fun coloring in Lionel Messi.
