Rasta Lion Drawing Lesson

Step 1.


Make the guides for the head and muzzle like so. Add the guidelines to the face.

Step 2.


Using the guides, draw in the very angled shape or structure to the Rasta lion's face.

Step 3.


We will now utilize the facial guidelines to draw in the shapes of the lion's eyes and nose. When that is done draw the crease between the eyes and then draw in the whisker holes and chin skin indent.

Step 4.


Finish it all off by draw in the fan styled lion mane. I say fan because the chunks of hair are in fan blade like shapes. Thicken that nose line and then draw the chin and beard. Erase the guides along with the mistakes.

Step 5.


Here is the line art. Now let's just color in your Rastafarian lion using the three Rasta colors, green, red, and yellow/orange. I guess you could say that's technically four colors.

Description: Here is one of my all time favorite lion concepts. It's a lesson on how to draw a Rasta lion, step by step. For those of you who don't know, the word 'Rasta' is short for Rastafarian which is an Abrahamic belief out of Jamaica that has been around since the 1930s. Some popular performers/artists who had a strong connection with Rasta belief was of course Bob Marley, and then Snoop Dogg. I'm sure there are others, but I can't think of them right now. Anyways, have fun drawing this Rasta lion. I will be back with some other fun art in a bit.
