How to Draw Flamingos

1

Let's start this tutorial with a flying flamingo. When flamingos fly they unbend their neck and their legs, so the guide lines we have to draw are based on a straight line with a circle in the middle for the body.

2

Flamingos have three toes forward, webbed for swimming, and a very small rear toe. Each toe ends in a small claw.

3

Now we can start drawing a full body flamingo in a simple pose. Draw the guide lines: small head, sinuous neck, body and long legs. Draw also the basic form of the bill and the feet.

4

Strat drawing the lineart of head and neck. The head is not a perfect circle, it's rather an oval.

5

Draw the body, the feathered tail and the point where the legs start.

6

Add eyes and bill.

7

Add some details to the whole figure. The details here are mostly feathers and thin lines that define the figure and make it less flat.
