How to Draw a Fantasy Dragon
1
Begin the first step by making the dragon's body line of motion. This includes the small head, neck line, torso shape and then the tail.
2
Since the dragon you will be drawing is going to be from the side, you will only be sketching out the profile of the dragon. Begin drawing the head on a downward pose like so, then draw in the small curly frills on the top portion of the head and dow
3
Here you will now draw out the wing, and again it's from the side so the wing should have that wide look. Add the curly frills and then proceed to step four.
4
We will focus on the large log that the dragon is resting on. The surface will be drawn in a manner that includes grass, plant matter and some of the log's shape.
5
Sketch out the entire shape of the log like so, then sketch in more greenery, plant matter and some overgrown moss that drips from the log. There should be different shapes and objects to make the magical appearance of this log and dragon.
6
Almost done people. All you have to do here is sketch out the full bushes on each side of the canvas like so. Draw in an empty tree branch or twig like so.
7
And lastly, draw the hanging vines from above the dragon. Give these vines some nice texture as well. Erase all the mistakes and guides.

Description: I'm going to start the day off right with a beautiful silhouette drawing of a dragon resting on the limb of a tree. I really love how this sketch came out and the coloring job just automatically brings it to life. The soft sunlight that shines through and bounces off the dragon makes everything look so peaceful, warm and magical. If you like drawing dragons you will love this lesson on how to draw a fantasy dragon too.
