Draw Horse Heads and Faces

Here is a detailed diagram of the horse head anatomy. Not only did I draw out the head of the horse, I also laid out detailed areas of the many different parts of a horse head and face.

This is the front view of the horse head anatomy. As you can see I show you the brow area, cheekbones, snout and also show you the jugular grooves which horses are so famously known for having prominently visible.

For this tip step I basically show you the heads of three different types of horse. The one at the top is the head of an Arabian bred horse, the lower left is a Shire horse and then finally to the lower right is the head of a pony.

When you draw the head or face of a horse, there is a question that is asked often and that is "where do I place details?". That is actually a good question so to help answer some of them, I've drawn and pointed out areas that you should detail your

As you can see this is a tip of how NOT to draw the muzzle of a horse. I actually made the check mark on the wrong side right, and the right side wrong. The muzzle to the left is the way you should draw the muzzle of a horse and the one on the right

Here is a tip that shows you the dos and don'ts when it comes to drawing a horse muzzle from a side view. As you can see the muzzle on the right has a more defined shape while the one on the left is a lot more narrow and has almost no shape or defini

Before we begin, let's draw the front view of a horse head and face in four simple steps. Make two shapes, one oval and one round. When that is done use those shapes to sketch out the actual structure of the horse's head and muzzle. Next, draw in the

When you are done the line art should end up looking like the one you see here.

Now we will draw a different angle of your horse head and face. Make a circle for the top of the head shape and then draw the long shape for the muzzle.

Up next, sketch out the actual shape of the horse muzzle as well as the brow area and jaw structure.

Here you will draw the bottom part of the mouth, and then draw in the nostril holes along with the definition down the muzzle and along the top of the muzzle.

We will now use the facial guidelines to draw out the shapes of your horse's eyes. Color them in solid leaving a bit of white behind. Once that is done you can sketch out the detailing on the forehead and around the eye area. Don't forget the lashes

All you have to do here is draw in the shapes of the ears and then draw the tuft of hair that rest on top of the horse's head between the ears.

Go ahead and add detailing to the ears and then sketch out the rest of the horse's beautiful mane. Add detailing to the mane to give it that hair look. Once that is done you can proceed to the next step.

Finally, sketch out the shape of the horse's neck. You will also need to add detailing to this area as well. Erase the guides and mistakes before leaving this step.

When all is said and done the horse head and face drawing should look like the one you see here. Add some shading and show of your work to others. Don't forget to upload your art to Drago so others can see how you did.
