How to Draw Stormfly, Stormfly from How to Train Your Dragon

Step 1.


Start the first step with two shapes, one for the head and another for the body. Notice that the shapes are almost the same. Connect the two with a neck line.

Step 2.


Next, begin sketching out the structure of the head. This should include the horn at the top part of the nose, as well as the grooves for each spiked frill you will draw in the next step.

Step 3.


We will be drawing Stormfly from an 3/4 view as she is about to lift off into the sky. Draw in the spiked frills like so, and be sure that they are nice and pointy. When that is done sketch out the line for her mouth, then draw in the nostrils, eye,    

Step 4.


Now that the face and head is complete, we can start drawing out the neck and some of the body. Start under the chin like so, and draw the thickness of her neck followed by some of her small body. When complete, draw in the wing, then move along to s   

Step 5.


Here you will draw out the other wing as well as the nail at the tip of the wing. Once that task is finished, draw out the first leg as well as the foot. Be sure to draw in the toes without the claws or nails.

Step 6.


We are almost done folks. All you have to do here is draw out the other leg, foot, then the tail. Once that is done you can add the sharp clawed nails on each foot as well as some of the detailing along each toe.

Step 7.


Lastly, sketch in the stomach scales, then draw in the rib detailing on the wings. Erase all the mistakes and guides you drew along the way to clean up the drawing and to prepare it for color.

Step 8.


Here is Stormfly when you're done. Color her in and add her to the How to Train Your Dragon collection.

Description: Hey everyone, how are folks doing today on this awesome Saturday afternoon? I hope all is well because I have some great lessons going up today and I will start with another dragon, but this one is not my own. Instead, we will learn "how to draw Stormfly", step by step from How to Train Your Dragon. Some who follow the series should know who this dragon is. She is Camicazi's pet dragon, as well as a Mood Type dragon. Stormfly is able to speak the language of dragonese, as well as Norse. One of the things that folks like most about Stormfly is how playful and wondrous she is. Now even though Stormfly has all these good qualities, she is also known as being a hardcore liar. Yes, she lies a lot. Sometimes one thinks why Toothless loves Stromfly, but I guess we will never know. This lesson will show you how easy drawing Stormfly can be. I had a lot of fun turning this character into a step by step lesson, so enjoy and have fun!
