How to Draw Rio, How to Draw Blu
1
Drawing Blu is going to be easy. You will first need to draw in the oval head shape, and then add the guidelines for the face, and neck. Before you draw out the wing and leg guides, you have to first draw in a circle for his body like so. Then attach
2
Begin drawing out Blu's head starting with his claw shaped beak both top and bottom. The head lining is going to be incorporated with the beaks lining in the next step.
3
Here you will sketch out Blu's large eye shape and don't forget to sketch in those wrinkle like crease lines around the eye.
4
Color in his eyeball or pupil, and then move to step five. We are taking this lesson slow because Blu is sort of well detailed.
5
Now you can begin sketching out the rest of his head and notice there is one piece of feather in the back of his head that is curled up. Next, sketch out the neck, and then draw in the beak lining and add the nostril hole.
6
It's now time to sketch out the wing span lines, and then from the right side, begin sketching out the shape of his body starting with the stomach and legs.
7
As you can see you will continue to sketch out the ends of the wings feathers. The very front tops of the wings are larger then all the rest and this is because animated birds use their feather tips as hands. Add some detailing to the feathers as wel
8
All you need to do here is sketch in some of the small little soft feathers that all birds have on their wings as well as under their main feathery coats.
9
Finally, sketch in his tail feathers, and then draw out his feet and clawed toes as you see here. You can also start erasing all the shapes and lines that you drew in step one.

Description: Just to keep you guys familiar with the character I drew some time back which is also the main figure in the film 'Rio', I wanted to draw another version of Blu and call the tutorial "how to draw Rio", step by step. I already said what I'm going to say about Blu in the other tutorial I made on him. What I will talk about though is how Rio is another computer generated movie in a 3-D style animation. It's from 20th Century Fox, and Blue Sky Studios and the film is directed by Carlos Saldanha. Remember when I said that it's supposed to be released in the summer of 2011? Well, scratch that from your list because it's actually going to be in theaters April 15th of this year. Of course the release date can still change because as of right now, nothing is set in stone. Blu is going to be a fun character to watch, and I have a feeling that a movie about a macaw who thinks he is the last of his kind, to only find out that he's not, is going to be interesting to see. What makes the film even more fun, is the fact that he is a house trained bird who never had to learn how to fly, or find a meal on his own. Blu and his owner set out on a journey to meet the female macaw that lives all the way in Rio de Janeiro. When Blu finally gets to Rio he finds out that Jewel is a beauty, and that's when he starts trying to win her heart. Unfortunately they both get kidnapped by a bunch of poachers. Not to worry though because they do escape and that's when they meet their friends Luiz, Rafael, Pedro, and Nico. I think you will love this lesson on "how to draw Rio" because you will not only be drawing Blu, you will also be drawing a beautiful blue macaw bird. I will be back with one more lesson folks and then I'm calling it a night. Peace people and have fun.
