How to Draw a Tribal Dragon

1

Begin by drawing the body line of motion for the tribal dragon. Then draw the shape of the head and bottom mandible. Draw the front leg guides, then move to step two.

2

Using the top head guide draw out the shape of the head, snout and opening for the mouth. You will also need to draw in the teeth and color them in. Draw the shape of the eye, then color in the nostril.

3

Sketch out the rest of the bottom jaw shape, and add definition to the jaw. Sketch in the frills that fills the back of the head, and when the shaping is done you can color it in solid.

4

You will begin drawing some tribal patterns when making the front part of the body, front leg and talon, and then the chest and stomach. There should be tribal markings to form this part of the dragon with solid shading as well.

5

The next thing we will do is draw out the rest of the front limbs and talons. Take your time as you tackle this step so you can create a nice fiery look and tribal style. Color in the limbs when done, then move to step six.

6

Next up, draw the back part of the dragon's body, then add some marks down the back. The end of the back shape should form one line. The marks should also form tribal detailing.

7

In this step you will continue with the dragon's back shape and lining and when you do this make sure that you add some frills down the body form. Draw the twined tail end and color in tail tip.

8

Sketch out the rest of the tribal dragon's body like so. Take your time so your drawing comes out with little mistakes. Draw the legs and back talons, then color the shapes in.

9

Finish your tribal dragon by making some scale lines, and then draw the last talon. Color in the talon or foot, then erase your mistakes. I'm sure you did a great job.

10

Here is the finished work now that you are all done. You can go ahead and color in the dragon, or leave it as a black and white image.

Description: Another lesson for the tribal books and this time it's on a dragon. I made this because I was feeling inspirational when I made the tribal phoenix. Up next, we will learn "how to draw a tribal dragon", step by step once again. I have done tribal dragons before but none of them look as good as the one in this lesson. I really like how the dragon's face and body came out and if you think of it, the face and body is what makes up the whole drawing. I think it's safe to assume that I like everything about this tribal dragon drawing. I really don't know what else to say because there is a lot of other tribal dragons to choose from and I don't want to rant on about nothing. Have fun, stay creative and stick around.
