How to Draw a Realistic Lion, Draw Real Lion

Step 1.


Are you ready to draw an awesome realistic lion? Good, start with a circle for the head, and then add another circle for the muzzle. You will also need to sketch out the shape of the lions massive mane, and then the facial guidelines.

Step 2.


With a light touch, begin sketching out the mouth, nose, and bridge for the lions face. You will then add the beginning lining for the eyes too.

Step 3.


Now the lesson starts taking an awesome turn. What you will do now is start sketching out the actual framing of the realistic lions face starting with the forehead, cheeks, and chin. When that is done you can add the nose tip, and then color in the m   

Step 4.


You will start adding some real detailing to the face which will help make the lion look realistic, majestic, and most importantly, like a king. Color in the white areas in the lions eyes, and then draw some whiskers, and whisker holes.

Step 5.


Now you can start sketching out one of the major parts to the lions form, the mane. You should sketch out the mane using soft, thick strokes. This will add some bold edges, and realistic hair. Once that is done you can add some minor touches to incre

For your final step all you need to do is add shading. But before you do that, you have to erase the lines and shapes that you drew in step one. If you look at the step you will see that the shading is done in layers. This will not only add texture t

When you are all done, you should have a realistic sketch that looks like the one you see here. If you want you can color this lion in, or leave it how you see it.

Description: Well I did it. I went ahead and made my very own tutorial on a realistic lion. I submitted a video link in the past for this big cat, but I figured that one of my own drawings or sketches would be a lot better. Now, because a comment was left on my recent lion lesson that said the lion looked like Aslan, I figured a nice sketch of this version of my lion would do just fine. I based the lions design on Aslan and on a lion that you would typically find in the safari. The sketch took me a while to complete including rough drafting, drawing, coloring, shading, and detailing the lion. This would be a great tutorial to tackle if you are one of those people that have always wanted to learn "how to draw a realistic lion", step by step. I can’t say that this tutorial will be easy because it may be difficult for some of you novice artists out there. If you are experienced with drawing, this lesson shouldn’t be too bad. Instead of drawing out the whole body of the realistic lion, I decided that a portrait view would be much better. I like to work in pieces. What I mean by that is, when I do a drawing on a subject that I don’t have too much experience with, I will draw the object, animal, or person in pieces. I will get good at one part of the subject to be drawn, and then when I fell that I can draw the entire body, I will draw everything at once. That is how I got better at drawing. I embraced my strengths, and worked with my weaknesses until they too where my strengths as well. I guess that’s it. You should enjoy yourself with this submission on "how to draw a realistic lion".
