Pay attention, and try and not to get too discouraged. Start by making a circle for the head of the animal, and then draw out the thick wide neck like so. You will then draw in the guidelines for the face and antlers.

2

Begin sketching in the peaceful face of the deer, which starts with the solid looking eyes, and the round tip of the nose. Once that is done you can sketch out the shape of the face, and then thicken the lining for the deer's neck and chest.

3

Next, work on drawing the bases where the antlers will sprout from. It's important to draw them this way because of the accuracy drawing them later. When drawing a realistic deer, you'll have to detail areas that contain muscle and fur. If you didn't

4

Then, start drawing the antlers. Take note to be patient and to receive form before you draw it. Drawing antlers from this view, is fairly easy. Start working in details for the eyes and neck area as well.

5

Now you will begin sketching in the detailing for the very large antlers that are on this bog buck. Since this is also your last drawing step, you have to start erasing all the lines and shapes that you drew in step one.

6

Now that you are done, your realistic deer drawing should come out looking like the one you see here. Color it in, or leave it as a sketch. Did you have fun with this tutorial or what?

Description: Well I have been getting into drawing realistic animals lately and I think it’s mainly because I want to get better at drawing realistically, and because hunting season is here. My eleven year old brother, and fourteen year old sister have started their gun and hunting safety course Tuesday, and they asked me if I could do a lesson that will teach them "how to draw a realistic deer", step by step. I have a bunch of deer tutorials on the site already, but since I was getting in the mood to drawing realistic animals lately, I figured a deer of their liking would be a good idea. I love these forest dwelling creatures and for some reason they always give off a sense of peace, and harmony to any meadow. For a while deer hunting was outlawed in certain states across the U.S. and I’m pretty sure the law was put in place right after the release of Walt Disney’s Bambi. I guess people didn’t want deer being killed anymore so after picketing, and running an anti-deer hunting campaign, hunters had no choice but to stop hunting deer. Anyways because hunting for deer was illegal for a while, the population grew like wildfire. There is now just as many deer in existence as there are squirrels, pretty weird huh? Anyway, I believe that you should only hunt for animals for survival and nothing more. In regards to this tutorial, I think you will have fun learning "how to draw a realistic deer," step by step. I think you will find that drawing the realistic version of this species isn’t all that hard. Well that’s it. I hope you have fun with this lesson. Be sure to come back and join me real soon for more drawing magic.
