How to Draw a Lion Face

Step 1.


Start with a head shape, and then draw out the lions, snout shape like you see here. Lastly, draw a long line for the curved neck.

Step 2.


Sketch out the snout, and then draw in the lion's mouth line. Next, draw the small eye, and then start the shape of the ear. The ear should be a bit larger then that of a tiger.

Step 3.


Okay, here is where you will start sketching, and stop drawing. You will need to sketch out the fury chin, neck or mane hair, and then sketch in the forehead, cheek, and detail inside of the lions ear like you see here. Add some wavy hair under the e   

Step 4.


Here you will finish sketching out your lion's face, and to do that you will have to sketch out the entire mane like you see here. Add some detail and definition by making the hair lines look like soft flowing strands throughout the lions mane. Erase   

Step 5.

Description: Okay guys, I know you all loved the “Pumpkin King” lesson that I submitted, and I also know that the tiger face tutorial has so far been a big hit. For my next submission I will be teaching you guys "how to draw a lion face", step by step. To me, and almost everybody else in the world, lions and tigers are two of the more popular big cat species in existence. Even though these two cats look very different, lions and tigers are probably two of the most vicious animals in the world. When I drew the lion’s face, I wanted it to look a bit different than that of the tiger I drew. So what I did was, draw the face from a side view profile. This way here, you can get a better view of a lion’s face when looking at it from the side. I sort of exaggerated a bit with the face, but that was to only define some of the strongest features of the lion like the mane, snout, and eyes. Lion eyes are so incredibly expressive. So much so, you can almost understand what they are thinking just by looking at their face. When they are ready to pounce on something, you can tell. When they are going to play, or when they are getting annoyed, you can tell as well just by looking at their faces. Anyways, I think you will like learning "how to draw a lion face", and if you run into any problems along the way, just go back and try out the step all over again.
