Step 1.
Start off by drawing a few circles. One for the head, another for the chest, and one more for the bottom of the body. Next, add the facial guidelines, front leg lines, and then the one tail line.

Step 2.
Now you will start sketching out the shape of Kovu's head which should be started with the ears, and then the fury cheeks. This is the cub version of Kovu, so there is no lion mane as of yet. Once the cheeks are drawn out, you can then draw the linin
g the creates the nose, and then the jaw or chin like so. Take your time so your character comes out right.

Step 3.
You will continue to draw the shape of Kovu's face like you see here by filling in the rest of his mouth and jaw. Once that is done, you can go ahead and draw in his eyes, eyebrows, and then the rest of his cub mane. Add detailing inside of the ears,
and then begin sketching out his chest.

You will start this fourth step by drawing out the lining for Kovu's back like so, and then draw the shape of his hind leg or thigh. Next, draw the front legs and begin to shape of the beginnings of his paws.

For your last drawing step all you need to do is draw out the tail and sketch in the hairy tip. Erase the lines and shapes that you drew in step one.

Step 7.
Here is how Kovu should look when you are all done. Now you just need to color him in. I hope you liked this lesson that taught you how to draw Kovu, step by step.

Description:
If you think about it, there is so many different characters you can draw from the every popular move series, The Lion King. Today, I will be showing you guys "
how to draw Kovu
", step by step. For those of you that don't know who exactly Kovu is, I will fill you in on the 411 right now. He is a lion from the sequel of Lion King called “The Lion King II: Simba's Pride”. He is the adopted son of Scar, and son to Zira. His mother raised him to believe in the same values, and ways that Scar believed in, and because Scar chose Kovu as his adopted son, he was also supposed to be the next king of the Pride Lands if Simba never returned when he did. In the story, he is the love interest of Kiara, which is Simba's daughter. The two meet when they are cubs, and then again when Kovu is a young adult. The whole plan was to go undercover, and find a way to be accepted by Simba so he could become part of the Simba's clan. Kovu does this by toying with Kiara's heart at first, but then he soon realizes that he loves Kiara, and thinks that Simba is a great king, and his beliefs and way of life is a much more balanced and carefree one. Zira is the one that gives Kovu his scar which is almost identical to the one Scar had. Unlike Simba, Kovu is brown in color, and had a dark brown colored mane. His eyes are probably the prettiest thing about his genetic makeup because they are like an emerald green, with yellow surroundings. In general, he is a relatively easy character to draw, and if you want to include Kiara in the drawing, you can go right ahead and do so. All you need to do to create Kiara, is follow the lesson I submitted a long while ago on Nala. Anyway, that does it for this tutorial, as you know I will return in just a few with two more on the way. Peace out my fellow peeps, and make sure you enjoy the rest of your drawing day!
