How to Color Anime Style

Step 1.


Ok! Let's get started! I just drew a fast sketch. It's good for planning. : )

Step 2.


Line art! I just kinda traced my sketch.

Step 3.


I'm going to lay down my base colors now.

Step 4.


Using several different tones, I add some shading to the skin. I used the blur tool to blend the colors too.

Step 5.


Time to shade the hair! Hair has cleaner and crisper lines, so don't blur too much!

Step 6.


Oops! Just realized I didn't add a base color for the sweaters. > < Sorry about that!

Step 7.


Shinny!!!!!!

Step 8.


Now zoom in really close for the eyes! The eyelid casts a shadow, so I just added a gradation to add a little more depth to my drawing. Also, have fun with the eyes!

Step 9.


Sparkles!!!

Step 10.


Almost done! Just add shading and highlights to all the accessories!!

Step 11.


Shade the stuffed cat heads/rainbow/banana/pillows! Then add a background and adjust the colors. All done!
