Dragon Statue Drawing Lesson

Let's start off with a couple guide shapes for the head and body like so. You will then draw in the guidelines for the snout and neck.

Using the guide you just made, begin drawing the dragon's snout, and forehead. Once that is done you can draw the flared frills which will make up the ears so to speak.

Up next, finish the snout and then draw the structure of the dragon's bottom jaw. When that is done you will draw in the nostril and small horn at the tip of the nose. Add some definition to the surface as well.

Up next, you will basically finish off the face by drawing the shape of the eye. Notice the angled lining for the eye. Draw in the patchwork on the front part of the dragon's face and when that is done draw the neck and the scaling too.

Up next, let's draw in the teeth which are nicely aligned. When that is done you can draw the slithering tongue which is forked at the ends.

We will now draw the first clawed hand or talon like so. Be sure the nails are long and the skin for the digits are scaly.

Up next and lastly, take your time as you drawing out the cloud coverage around the dragon. This is part of the statue design so please take your time to complete the task. When all is done, erase the mistakes and all the guides.

Description: I am really fond of this drawing that I did a couple days ago. It's something that I put a lot of thought into and I think it's because I was feeling like a kid again. I can remember when I was passionately in love with dragons and anything that had to do with them. I don't care if they were small, big, Chinese, Japanese or any other style, I just loved them wholeheartedly. Anyways, this lesson is going to show you how to draw a dragon statue in a very clean, decorative manner. This is probably one of the best dragon drawings I have done and now I will share my artwork with all of you so you can learn from it.
