Step 1.

Draw the oval lightly with a No.2 or HB pencil. Make sure you draw it as seen in the picture.

Step 2.

Now draw in the bisecting red line to balance his facial features.

Step 3.

Sketch lightly the crescent red lines for hair line and head mass.

Step 4.

You can draw in the lines a. for eyebrows, b. for eyes, c. for nose, d. for top of mouth, and e. for bottom of mouth.

Step 5.

Now draw in Pewdiepie's eyebrows and eyes.

Step 6.

Observe where Pewdiepie's features appear in relation to the guidelines. Draw in his nose, smile, and mouth.

Step 7.

Watch closely how Pewdiepie's face outline, jawline, chin, and smile lines relate to the guidelines. As you draw, you will have more accuracy.

Step 8.

When you sketch his hair, add those straight lines and curves. Try staying close to the lines that represent the direction of his hair. This will help as you shade it in.

Step 9.

Sketch in his headphones. The guidelines should help with the placement of them.

Step 10.

Now draw in his T-shirt with collar and shoulders. Don't shy away from his T-shirt folds. If you haven't already, you can erase your guidelines.

Step 11.

You've erased the guidelines and other distracting lines. Your picture won't look exactly like this, but remember my picture is only a guide... that's it. Now we are going to start with shading.

Step 12.

The picture that goes with this step shows two different ways to hold your pencil to acquire certain effects. OVERHAND: Holding a sharpened pencil in normal writing form with fingers in the middle or near the lead gives you great control and thin/det

Step 13.

Start shading with a pencil, even a No. 2 pencil will do well. Shade diagonally around the eyes. Also fill in the pupils, leaving some catch lights. Fill in the eyebrows with hair lines strokes...lightly.

Step 14.

Add more shading to his forehead, nose and smile lines.

Step 15.

Add lines to his hair near his temples. Follow the direction they flow. Shade some more on his forehead, nose, lips and chin. Don't forget to add some detail to his headphones on the left side of the picture.

Step 16.

Go ahead and lightly shade with diagonal strokes with the No. 2 pencil. Notice how the shading progresses down his face, adding shading details under his eyes, nose (appearing like a mustache), lips, and cheeks.

Step 17.

You can see closely how the shading progresses. 1) Simple eyebrows and eyes. 2) Shading begins. 3) darkening of eyebrows and eyelashes. More shading in pupils. 4. Darkening the eyebrows, eyes, and eyelashes with 9B graphite pencil. Adding highlights

Step 18.

Here we are deepening the shading and adding depth to his face, and shine to the hair. Stroke lightly with you pencil, even hold your pencil at 45 degrees angle (the lead on its side) and shade his hair with light strokes.

Step 19.

You can shade the headphones darkly, but watch out for lighter areas and the small detailed lines near his ear.

Step 20.

Stroke in lightly, more shading to his hair and the complete shading the headphones.

Step 21.

Here you can more easily capture the shading progression of the nose and mouth. If you need to lighten the outline of the nose and lips, do it with your (kneaded) eraser by dabbing the dark outlines very lightly.

Step 22.

Now we are continuing the shading to his neck and t-shirt. Shading with your pencil held on its side for thicker swath will give you faster coverage. Step 12 explains this for you.

Step 23.

Blending with a tissue just on his skin area so you do not smudge your details saves messiness and time wasted redoing your details. Use a tortillon or blending stumps to smooth smaller areas. Of course your picture will look lighter.

If you want to add more refined details, now is a good time. Take your kneaded eraser and create crows feet around Pewdiepie's eyes. With your 9B graphite pencil, add scruff to his bearded area, darken the headphones and the dark spaces between his h

Here is the finished product of the video gamer, Pewdiepie. I have added highlights to his pupils, shiny hair areas, and a few hair strands. This can be done with Titanium White which is fantastic and more accurate than the kneaded eraser for HIGHLIG
