How to Draw Fire in Pencil

1

Sketch the flame you want to make. It doesn't have to be an exact replica of what I did, flames are random , for them to look real you have to be spontaneous . But keep in mind that this is just fire, burning , slowly, it tends to go upwards .

2

Get some graphite powder and smudge it around and in some places, inside the flames .It's easier to make bright flames on a dark background .

3

Whatever you used to smudge the background, use it again to make a few curvy smooth lines that go upwards .

4

Now using a sharp eraser make some bright lines inside and outside the flames. Make the lines sharp at the beginning and at the end, to get that fiery effect .

5

Now we're gonna make a different type a flame, one spewed out of a dragon's mouth or a flame thrower . Sketch it like a balloon .

6

As previous, using graphite powder , make a dark background around the fire.

7

Using an eraser, make white lines on the edges of the flame, starting from its source, yea the narrow white part on the left.

8

Do the same with the giant fire ball .

9

Add some more highlights for realism using a white pencil ( if you have one that actually works ) or white pastels .
