How to Draw Legs

This is the first sketched diagram that I drew for you. This just shows you the difference in thickness when choosing the right legs to draw. There is thick thighs, and normal thighs.

Here is another sketched diagram of some legs in action poses. I just basically talk about how legs are usually made up of three different shapes. Usually, the thickest shape is the thigh, or top part of the leg. Look at the diagram I drew for you he

There is four different types of legs I will include in this step. The first thing you will do here is draw the top halves of the legs which is called the hips. From those hip shapes, you will draw the wire guidelines for the legs.

You will now start sketching out the outer lining of the legs which will initially make the shape for the legs like you see here.

All you need to do here is sketch out the inner thighs lining and make sure that the shaping is nicely contoured as you see here. The buttocks has creases to add some detailing.

All you have to do here is sketch out the feet which includes toes and ankles. Add some detailing to the knees, and then draw a line to close up the area where the crotch is. Erase the lines and shapes you drew in step one.

When you're done, your sketch should come out looking like the one you see here. I had so much fun teaching you guys to draw legs. I hope you had fun too. Start using your new legs on one of your characters.

Description: Wow, I can't believe that some of the recent tutorials I submitted have already made it to the top 50. That is totally insane. What I will submit next, is a lesson that will teach you "how to draw legs", step by step. I was actually going to draw this sketch out to be realistic legs, but instead I figured it's hard enough drawing regular legs, levamind teaching you to draw realistic legs. Because of that, I decided that it would be best to sketch out simple type of legs from a cartoon or anime/manga perspective. There is two diagrams that I sketched out that talks about the different shapes for thighs to consider when drawing legs. I also did a sketched action diagram that is filled with cool ways you can draw your characters lower body pose. The main, colored image was drawn using Photoshop, and fully enhanced to look like a pair of real legs. I have been really getting into digital painting instead of coloring. There is so many types of techniques that I've learned over the years of using Photoshop, and my trusty drawing tablet. For those of you that want to know, I have been using a drawing tablet since the very beginning of this site. Over the years I have improved with not only my drawing skills, but also with drawing on a tablet. Anyway, I'm just rambling on about nothing when I should be letting you get to work on this tutorial that will teach you an awesome why to "draw legs", step by step. Judging on how you guys like my other tutorials on human anatomy, I think you will find this lesson helpful. I still have three more lessons, so stay tuned to see what they will be. Bye guys!
