How to Draw an El Camino

Step 1.

Let us begin with a flat box like shape and then draw in the dimensional guides.

Step 2.

You will then draw the front or nose of the El Camino like so, then draw the outline of the bumper and wheel well.

Step 3.

Complete the whole shape of the car body like so making sure that you give the El Camino a long body style. This was a big car.

Step 4.

Next, draw two of the tires completely, then draw in the rims. This Camino has some stylish rims.

Step 5.

We will now draw the front window or windshield like so, then draw the driver's side door window and the side mirror.

Step 6.

Up next, sketch in the grooves to the El Camino's hood. Then draw the seam lines for the driver's side door and along the bottom of the frame.

Step 7.

You will now draw the front bumper style completely and then draw in the detailing to the bumper like so.

Step 8.

Finish the nose of the car, and then draw in the headlights and parking lights.

Step 9.

Add detailing to the grill like so, then you are ready to erase your mistakes and guidelines.

Step 10.

Finish everything off by drawing the flames coming from the back of the tires. Both front and back tires have some flames. You can leave this out if you wish.

Step 11.

Here is the line art. Now you can color in your drawing to any shade you want you El Camino to be.

Description: Here is another car that I know some of you will recognize. It's a vehicle that was very popular back in the 70s and 80s and nowadays I have been seeing lots more of this car around. So having said that, here is how to draw an El Camino, step by step. An interesting story follows the history of the El Camino. Back in the 1930's a farmer wrote to the Ford Australia company asking to make a car that would be good to go to church with on Sundays and also be used for farming needs on regular days. As a result the first utility coupé was created. Over the past almost thirty years cars have been developed but it wasn't until the release of Ford's 1957 Rancho that the Chevrolet El Camino was born. The El Camino was a utility coupé which means it had the luxury of a car, but also had a truck like bed in the back for storage or whatever else a folk needed to use these vehicles for. The production of the El Camino went from 1959-1960 and then from 1964-1987. The last real El Camino was produced in 1988, and since the line was stopped quietly, speculators think that the 420 El Caminos and 325 GMC Cabelleros are part of the secret 1988 line. Anyways, this lesson is going to show you how to draw an El Camino and while you tackle this lesson I will prepare the rest of the tuts for you all. Have fun and enjoy drawing another car from the past.
