Drawing Freddie Mercury, Bohemian Rhapsody

Step 1.


Freddie is being drawn in a 3/4 view or side angle. To begin, draw the guide shape of the head and then sketch in the neck guides, shoulder guideline and then the guides for the arm and mic.

Step 2.


Here you will start drawing Freddie's face, but in a profile view. Start with the lining for the forehead, then draw the profile of the face which includes the nose, open mouth structure, and then the chin and some of the jaw line. Add a silhouette o   

Step 3.


Just as the title of this step says, you will start by drawing the hairline for Freddie's short hairstyle. Once that is done you can draw in the ear and the shape of his neck.

Step 4.


You will finish drawing Freddie's head shape like so, then sketch in some inner ear detailing as well. Once that is done you can go ahead and draw the lining to form the nostril and then draw the outline of the lips (from the inside).

Step 5.


Now you can get busy and draw the facial features starting with the shapes of his eyes, the eyebrows or eyebrow, then the cheek bump. When those parts of the face are done, you can then draw the mustache and his teeth. Everyone knows Freddy had a lar   

Step 6.


The head and face are done, now let's quickly draw in his arm and hand. The hand is holding a mic and I know you don't see it now, but he is. Take your time with this step as I know how complicated it can get drawing an arm and hand.

Step 7.


As I said, you are almost done. All you will do now is draw the shirt which also forms the torso, then draw the shoulder part of the arm which is not covered with the shirt. Add creases, wrinkles and folds to the clothing and when that is complete yo   

Step 8.


You can quickly draw the left side of the shoulder or shit and then some of the left arm.

Step 9.


All we will do here is draw in Freddie Mercury's microphone add the detailing to the mic, and then draw the mic stand. Once that is done and you are happy with the art go ahead and erase the mistakes and all the guides.

Step 10.


That's all there is to it. Now you can have fun coloring in this iconic rock and roll performer.

Description: I'm sure it's no surprise that this lesson is about to go up. I mean, how can there not be a lesson on how to draw Freddie Mercury, step by step. He was, and still is a very popular rock icon that formed the British rock band 'Queen'. Frederick Mercury was the lead singer of Queen, he was born on September 5, 1946 and died on November 24, 1991 at the age of forty five. For those of you who have been living in the dark ages, Queen is the band that sings songs like "Bohemian Rhapsody", "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions". Of course there are many, many more songs from Queen's albums, but those are the hit songs that most people recognize. Anyways, I wanted to portray Freddie Mercury the way I remember him, and that is singing his ass off rocking out. His voice was incredible, the amount of passion he put into his music was amazing and I will forever be a fan of Queen and Freddie Mercury. So I do hope you enjoy this lesson, I will return with some other fun tuts soon, and don't forget to keep a look out for the new Freddie Mercury movie Bohemian Rhapsody.
