First, we must always start with the essential guidelines that will stack line-work upon line-work. Most people disregard the importance of guidelines, and other advise that you draw the individual shapes of the body first. Yes, doing that will aid in understanding how the form of a body is made. But truly, a budding artist will not draw those many shapes since they ARE novices and not intermediate skilled. Anyways, try to draw the guidelines as accurate as possible. The accuracy of the guides don't have to be spot on depending on your skill level. Draw these guides LIGHTLY on your paper; you will need to erase them later.
