How to Draw Giraffes

Step 1.


Giraffes are similar to camels and cows. Their heads are square when you look at them from the front, and triangular from the side. Their foreheads are similar and their eyes and ears as well.

Step 2.


Their tongues are long and darkly colored and their lips fold into their mouths, partially covering their flat teeth.

Step 3.


Their eyes are big and round, dark with only the tiniest bit of white showing. They have long eyelashes too.

Step 4.


Their ears stick out form the sides of their head. coming to a point while staying somewhat spoon-shaped.

Step 5.


Their hooves are much like those of a cow from the top, but then when you turn them over and look at the underside, you can see that their one piece and flat on the bottom.

Step 6.


Now we'll get started on drawing our giraffe. We'll draw a frame for us to work off, making an oblong shape for the body and for the head, making it look sort of like the head of a bird.

Step 7.


Next we'll start adding on the details. Starting with the head. We'll draw out the shape of the mouth and nose along with the horns and the brow on the eye that is furthest from us.

Step 8.


Next we'll draw the nostrils, eyes and ears on.

Step 9.


From there we'll draw out the rest of the neck and connect it to the body, adding some of the back and the chest of our giraffe.

Step 10.


Now we'll add the front legs, connecting them to the shoulders and chest.

Step 11.


.From there we'll work down the back and add on the hind legs.

Step 12.


And then we'll add the tail.

Step 13.


For the spots, we'll lay them out like we would a stone wall. Not all perfectly the same shape and size, but keeping that sort of geometrical look.

Step 14.


There you have it. Your own giraffe. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done!
