1

Draw two circles, one for the head, and one for the body. When that is done all you need to do next is draw the facial guidelines.

2

Now the Westie have coats that are about two inches in length. Because of that all you have to do is sketch out the shape of the head, and face. Notice how the edges look like a messy hairstyle. Draw the ears in conjunction with the initial lining.

3

Finish off the face by drawing the jowls. Once that is done you can use the facial guidelines to draw, and color in the eyes. Next draw the nose, and then add the detailing for the ears. Detail the nose by adding a line for the bridge, and then sketc

4

Well guess what? You are already on your last drawing step. Finish drawing out the body which consists of the belly, and back leg. Sketch in the short tail, and begin erasing all the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one.

Here is your Westie when you are all done drawing him/her out, and cleaning up the lines. Cute huh? I do hope you had fun, and I also hope that you all join me again for another fun filled lesson here on Dragoart.com.

Description: Dogs have become such a fun activity for me lately and when I receive a request for me to draw a dog, I always jump to the chance as soon as I can. Today I will be filling another request that was made by a member named telepopmusic. They asked if I could do a tutorial that could show you “how to draw a Westie, step by step. Telepopmusic wanted a white Westie Terrier in chibi form, and that is what you will receive. I never owned a terrier, and come to think of it, I don't think I have ever owned a small breed dog before. Except for when I was three, my mother had an all black Pomeranian that she called Lucky. Unfortunately, Lucky was hit by a car right in front of the house. He was chasing after the Rottweiler we had who broke the gate of the fence to get out of the yard. They where chasing the neighbours cat, but when my mother heard those tires screech, she knew one of the dogs got hit. I can remember the way she told me the story, it was so sad. She said that was the first time that the dogs got out of the yard. The one time they escaped, was the last time for the little guy. Anyway, the Westie is another small breed dog, and over the past ten years or so, owning a small breed pet has become almost an accessory for some people, and companion for others. Small dogs are so much easier to care for because their bodies are smaller which means less food consumption, their stool is small so when an accident happens it's like your cleaning up cat poop, and one of the best things about owning a small breed dog, is the fact you can dress them up, and bring them virtually anywhere with you. All in all they are versatile animals that make great pets. Westies look a little like the Maltese breed. They are sturdy dogs that have a lot of spunk and excitement. Like a lot of canines, they have a double coated hide, with the inner coat being soft and dense, and the outer coat is hard, and a bit wavy. For a small breed, this dog is pretty friendly when it comes to strangers and children if trained properly. You would think that there is no way that a Westie would be a good watchdog right? Well guess what, you're wrong. They actually make pretty good watchdogs that will let you know if there is an intruder lurking around. They also like digging and of course barking. And even though they seem like a perfect pet to own, you have to make sure that you establish dominance with the Westie terrier. If you don't you will run into some major behavior problems like biting, aggressiveness toward food and even furniture, and even a bit bossy at times. So, if you want to own one of these dogs, you have to make sure that you let your pup know who is the pack leader. If not, you will end up with a stubborn, non-cooperative dog that will turn out to be nothing more then a headache, instead of a friend. Oh and by the way, the full name for this breed is “West Highland White Terrier”, just to let you know. I had fun with this tutorial, and I know you too will have a blast learning "how to draw a Westie Terrier”. Peace out people
