Artist:

Step 1.
To start, we will need to draw a shape that is circular for the dragon's body pose of motion. Begin with one single stroke that is capped with a head shape and sectioned off with an oblong shape for the moon dragon's body.

For step two, you will begin sketching out the dragon's head from a profile state. Start with jaw, and then continue on from there by incorporating the snout, face, and horns.

Now you will sketch in the detailing to the face like the rippled scale lines that flow down the horns and face. When that is done draw in the eye, nostrils, then carefully sketch in the frills behind the jawline and for the beard.

Step 4.
Now that the head is complete, you can proceed on with drawing the first part of the body which starts with the long neck, then turns into the chest and mid section. Draw the front legs like so, and be sure to sketch in the detailing for the legs as
well.

Step 5.
Instead of drawing the body I thought it would be cool to draw out the wings in a way that covers the body completely in a cloak like fashion. The edges of the wings should be drawn with wispy cloud like design, or you can choose to go with a style t
hat you think would look better. Add detailing throughout, then proceed to step six.

Only one more drawing step after this one guys so hang in there. What you will need to do now is draw out the rest of the body which is the bottom section and the tail. Draw the back leg in a relaxed manner, then sketch out the talons. Add detailing
to the foot like so, then you are done here.

Lastly, draw out the other wing that will only be visible because it is wrapping on the body like you see here. Make the edges the same way you did previously, then sketch in the final definitions and detailing all over the body where needed. Erase t
he mistakes that you might have made along the way.

Here is what the entire image looks like all colored in and with a background. I hope you liked this lesson, because I know I loved drawing this dragon.

Description:
Hey guys I'm back with another dragon tutorial that I think a lot of you will like. I wanted to fill some requests and do another elemental dragon of some sorts but I couldn't really think of anything cool to base the concept on since I have nearly drawn all of them in the past. Having said that, I thought it would be fun to take thinks to another level and bring back the traditional style of dragon with the serpentine look similar to the Chinese dragons and such. So here is "how to draw a moon dragon", step by step. I think I may have stumbled onto another series of dragon creations. I don't know yet, but I think I might make up my own type of dragon drawing saga based on the universe, or planets I should say. I was thinking that I could get some help with ideas from all of you if ya'll agree that making a dragon series based on planets would be a good idea. For example, a sun dragon, then maybe a dragon that represents Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and so forth. I really enjoyed this concept because the moon is by far one of my favorite objects that exists above me. I get to gaze at it every night and imagine all sorts of things. Wolves howl to moon, and all kinds of animals come out when the moon is full. Not only did I want to create a serene setting, I also wanted to capture the wispy and quiet form of the moon into a dragon. I hope you all like this submission, as well as the concept idea. I have to go because there is more for me to get uploaded. Adios people and have fun!
