How to Draw a Bamboo Plant

Artist: Dawn / February 7, 2014

Step 1.

Start off by drawing your heart like so. You can choose any style heart. A small stubby one, or a large wide one.

Step 2.

The next thing you will do is draw out the base of the pot which is usually ceramic.

Step 3.

Now we will start drawing the first of the bamboo step which starts to fork at the base. Also sketch in some leaves for the plant.

Step 4.

Okay, add the sections of bamboo shoots along with some sporadic leaves.

Step 5.

We will now start drawing the heart shaped bamboo shoots. At the crease of each shoot you will need to add small sprigs of leaves.

Step 6.

Continue to draw the arched shape of the bamboo plant, then add some small pieces of leaves.

Step 7.

Now you will finish off the heart shape by adding the last two sections of shoots. Add some small pieces of leaves, then you are done.

Description: Okay, so I know you guys have seen these bamboo plants in the stores like Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, or wherever. Well I finally bought one after procrastinating that I would the other day and let me tell you, I love it. This lesson is going to show you "how to draw a bamboo plant", step by step. My bamboo doesn't look like a heart like you see here, instead it has a cascading intertwined look that is almost perfect in design. You can buy bamboo plants in a variety of styles. Shoots that go straight up, ones that are twisted within one another, or you can go and get the plants that are like mine, a a maze like pattern. One thing is certain, no matter what type of bamboo you like, they are all great. I chose to make a heart shaped bamboo plant because of Valentine's Day, but you can go with whatever you like. Have fun and stay tuned in for more tuts on the way.
