How to Draw a Fern

Make a large pointed oblong shape for your fern leaf like so.

Next, begin drawing the actual form of the fern. When doing this make sure that there is slits or notches along the edges of the fern plant leaf.

Sketch in the center rib like so, then proceed to step four.

Lastly, add the remaining ribs on your fern leaf like so. Erase any and all mistakes that you may have made.

Here is what your finished plant looks like, or at least the leaf of a fern anyway. Color it in then you're done.

Description: I was actually going to make a better tutorial on "how to draw a fern", but I don't even know if this lesson will be liked so I just made a fern leaf instead. Drawing plants is probably a very concept to draw because they can be used as subjects for still life sketches. Making this fern is going to be fun. I don't know about any of you, but I think drawing house and outdoor plants is interesting because they are so easy to recreate. They are also good objects to practice on. Anyways, enjoy drawing a fern, I will be back soon.
