Drawing a Bear Step by Step

Step 1.


Even though the main image is the bear's head, you will actually be drawing the whole bear so let's begin by drawing the two guides; one for the head and another for the body. Sketch in the facial guidelines as well.

Step 2.


Using the head guide start drawing the bear's snout. This should be long and narrow. When that is done draw the nose and add some shading to create the nostrils. Also, draw a smile line as well as detailing along the bridge of the nose.

Step 3.


You will now sketch out the shape of the bear's head. This should be fluffy because as you know bears have lost of fur. Draw in the ears, add detailing to the face for texture, and color in the eyes. A bear usually has a dead stare but for this fella   

Step 4.


We will now draw in the two front legs in a very simple manner. Once the legs are drawn in don't forget to draw those massive nails or claws on each foot like you see here.

Step 5.


Sketch out the shape of the bear's back and hind end. Just this part of the drawing brings this bear from looking small to massive.

Step 6.


Lastly, finish your bear off by drawing the back legs and nails or claws on each back foot. Erase your mistakes and add detailing to the bear's fur.

Step 7.


Here is the line art. Color in your bear. You can make him a black bear or grizzly, the choice is yours.

Description: Okay, to finish the day for now, I will be showing you how to draw a bear in a step by step manner and this bear is going to be drawn in a realistic manner. I have drawn many bears in the past, but only a couple are docile looking or calm. The bear in this drawing is too big to be a black bear. You can tell just by looking at the size of the head and body. That leaves just one more bear that I am a fan of and that is the Grizzly. Making sketched drawing on animals is something that I have been doing a lot, but I have not always uploaded them as artwork or as lessons. I have so many drawings in my sketch book that I know people would like to check out, it's just stuff that I want to keep mine. Anyways, drawing a bear shouldn't be too complicated. There are only 6 steps to follow which makes this tutorial even more manageable. Anyways, have fun drawing a bear folks. I will be back later today with some other fun lessons for you to follow.
