How to Draw the Nativity

Step 1.


Begin the first step by making five guides for each person and animal. Sketch in the facial guidelines, then draw the torso for the donkey, and the body shape for the baby.

Step 2.


Begin drawing the donkey first by making the shape of the head and snout. Draw in and detail the donkey ears as well.

Step 3.


Color the eye in solid like so, then add small bits of the donkey's mane as well as a nostril.

Step 4.


You will continue to draw the donkey's body starting with the back of the neck, then draw the front legs and chest, then some of the stomach.

In this step we will take our focus from the donkey and put it on the first wise man. Draw the shape of the head in the form of a turban, the sketch in the face with closed eyes, a nose and simple lined mouth.

Step 7.


All you have to do here is draw the ring around the top portion of the head which is also known as the turban band, then move to step eight.

Step 8.


Finish off the first wise man by drawing the small body, and then cover the body with the robe like garment that men used to dress in during the times Jesus walked the earth. Add detailing as well as the shapes of the hands.

Step 9.


Here you will draw out the cow's head and then draw the ears. Add a mouth to the cow's face, then move along to step ten.

Step 10.


Finish the cow's face by drawing and coloring in the eye, then make the marking line that forms the nose. Add some hair to the top of the cow's head, then add some horns small horns and detail the ears.

Step 11.


Make the neck line.

Draw the second wise man in this step along with the shroud cap which I think is called a turban.

Step 13.


Add the band to the head rim, then draw in closed eyes, a nose and mouth.

Step 14.


All you have to do here is draw in the sleeves and arms, along with the praying hands. Detail the cloak or robe that the wise man is wearing, and once you are done with that you can move to step fifteen.

Step 15.


Draw baby Jesus which is in a newborn infant form, then draw in his hay style bed.

Step 16.


Sketch out the actual hay bed, and make sure that the edging is made to look like chunk or thick short fringe.

Step 17.


For the last step just draw the base for the cradle that baby Jesus is laying in. Erase all of the mistakes, then you are done.

Step 18.


You now have a lesson on the nativity scene that is associated with Christmas. Have fun coloring in the drawing folks, I know you did an awesome job with drawing the scene.

The hoover over Jesus as he lays in a basket full of hay, and the three wise men kneel and pray.
