First of all draw a circle for the head and the guide lines inside it, then draw the basic form of the muzzle, two large triangles for the ears and two lines for the neck.
Now that the guide lines are done, let's start the actual drawing.
Draw the eyes and the upper part of the muzzle, then add the nose.
Draw the mouth and the chin, then draw the forehead.
Now draw the two large ears. They have a triangular form and long fur inside.
Draw fur on the cheek and the long neck.
Add some details like pupils (they are round, like wolf pupils), fur and whiskers.
Here the finished maned wolf head in a sketchy style.
In the image you can see the main differences between maned wolf, fox and wolf.
The maned wolf has a head similiar to the one of the fox: thin muzzle and large ears.
The more evident feature of this species are the long legs which are probably an adaptation to the tall grasslands in which it lives. The maned wolf is the tallest of the wild canids.
Start drawing the guide lines of the head like in step 1, then add the guide lines of the body, legs and tail.
Draw the eyes and the muzzle.
Finish the head by drawing the ears with details inside them, forehead and cheeks, then add some long fur on the throat.
Draw the neck and the "mane". These long hairs are erectile and are typically used to enlarge the maned wolf's profile when threatened or when displaying aggression. Then draw shoulders and chest.
Draw the long and thin forelegs and the paws. Do not forget to add the claws.
