How to Draw Maned Wolves

Step 1.


First of all draw a circle for the head and the guide lines inside it, then draw the basic form of the muzzle, two large triangles for the ears and two lines for the neck.

Step 2.


Now that the guide lines are done, let's start the actual drawing. Draw the eyes and the upper part of the muzzle, then add the nose.

Step 3.


Draw the mouth and the chin, then draw the forehead.

Step 4.


Now draw the two large ears. They have a triangular form and long fur inside.

Step 5.


Draw fur on the cheek and the long neck.

Step 6.


Add some details like pupils (they are round, like wolf pupils), fur and whiskers. Here the finished maned wolf head in a sketchy style.

Step 7.

Step 8.


Start drawing the guide lines of the head like in step 1, then add the guide lines of the body, legs and tail.

Step 9.


Draw the eyes and the muzzle.

Step 10.


Finish the head by drawing the ears with details inside them, forehead and cheeks, then add some long fur on the throat.

Step 11.


Draw the neck and the "mane". These long hairs are erectile and are typically used to enlarge the maned wolf's profile when threatened or when displaying aggression. Then draw shoulders and chest.

Step 12.


Draw the long and thin forelegs and the paws. Do not forget to add the claws.

Step 13.


Finish the body and draw the hind leg and paw.

Step 14.


Add the other hind leg and the tail.

Step 15.


Add some details and the maned wolf is finished!
