How to Draw Denzel Washington, Denzel Washington

1

Draw the oval lightly with a No.2 or HB pencil. Make sure you draw it as seen in the picture.

2

Now draw in the bisecting red line to balance his facial features.

3

Sketch lightly the crescent red lines for hair line and head mass.

4

You can draw in the lines a. for eyebrows, b. for eyes, c. for nose, d. for mouth, e. for hand position.

5

Now draw Denzel's eyebrows and eyes with temple and cheek shadow lines.

6

Observe where his features appear in relation to the guidelines. Draw in his nose and mouth with shadow lines.

7

Watch closely how Denzel's jaw and chin lines relate to the guidelines. Don't forget to add the facial hair. As you draw, you will have more accuracy.

8

His hair is pretty simple. When you sketch in his hair, add those straight lines and curls. Try staying close to the lines that represent the direction & curls of his hair. This will help as you shade it in. Also draw in his ear. The reason for Denze

Now draw in his shoulder, T-shirt folds, and the back of his hand. Take your time. If you haven't already, you can erase your guidelines.

I made this line drawing especially for you if you don't want to do the pencil shading and blending part. Otherwise, let us continue to the pencil drawing part.

Here is the outline done with a 0.7mm mechanical pencil. Look closely and see if your lines look something like this. You can erase if certain areas like the eyes or nose don't line up. Observe how there are more details, like the dots. Be patient wi

Here is how the tools look. I used the 0.7mm 2B mechanical pencil, 9B pencil, tissue, and the blending stump.

This is the first start. This is where you would sketch in small circles or lines to shade the areas. It would take hours upon hours to cover all that area with a pencil. I chose to shade with pastels. In a few strokes I've got area coverage. Applied

I sketched in darker with my 0.7mm mechanical and 9B pencil his eyes & mouth. I placed my 9B pencil flat and barely touching the paper went over the darker side of her face. Between the shadowed hair strands, I used the point of the 9B in circular mo

Drawing like this is a gradual buildup. I keep sketching, blending and sketching some more. This time, I first blended the pencil sketches with my toritillon to give a smooth transition. I added more dark tones and details to his hair, face, hand, an

I first added the black background with my Charcoal gray pastel stick. Then I got in the corners, added some balanced darkness to his hair, eyes and face shadow with my 9B graphite crayon.

I blended the background with my blending stump. I also gave a once over blend with my tortillon (smaller blending tool) on his face and hair.

I didn't need to add highlights on his face because they already stood out very well according to the picture reference. I smoothed his skin and t-shirt folds a little more in my SAI program by blurring it. I am closing out now. I hope you enjoyed th
