How to Draw an Asian Dragon

Step 1.

Start off by making a simple circle. Add a guideline to the upper part of the dragon's head.

Step 2.

Use the circle to create the structure for the dragon's head. The easiest way to tackle this step is to start with the mouth line, draw in the snout, and then make the front part of the head and horn. Don't forget to add the whisker too.

Step 3.

Sketch out the hairy chin, then draw in the jaw line as well as the pointed frills on the back part of the jaw which will be filled in with fins.

Step 4.

Add a long thick neck, then when you do this make sure to draw the pose or position of the neck. Add the other whisker too.

Step 5.

Up next, sketch in the dragon's face by sketching out the eye. You will then add detailing around the eye which can vary depending on what you like as an artist. Then add the snout line as well as the nostrils. Don't forget to draw in the scales on t

Step 6.

You are already almost done. Now all you have to do is draw the center bone parts of the fin like frill that will flow down the dragon's neck. Add another horn as well.

Step 7.

Add the tissue lines to make a fin like frill down the neck.

Step 8.

Lastly, add the rest of the scales to the neck which are layered in four different spots or areas. Erase the mistakes and guides.

Step 9.

That's it, you have finished this lesson on drawing an Asian inspired dragon. Now all you have to do is color it in.

Description: When was the last time I did a lesson on an Asian dragon? A long time ago that's when. Today I will be showing you how to draw an Asian dragon, step by step. This is another simple shaped head from the side view of a dragon in a Chinese style. There are whiskers that hang from the snout, and the neck has prominent scales then other dragon lessons do. I didn't draw a traditional style Asian dragon because I wanted to do something different. Anyways, I hope you like this lesson on drawing an Asian dragon, I will be back with another dragon in a bit.
