Observe where Katherine's features appear in relation to the guidelines. Draw in her falling hair to the side, eyebrows, and eyes.

Now draw in her nose, mouth, and upper chin shadow.

Pay attention to the placement of forehead, cheek, jawline, chin, and neck and how they relate to the guidelines. Now draw them in.

Since there are quite a few lines representing the flow of her hair, I've broken this down into some parts. Just draw lightly the left side facing you. Make sure you follow the hair lines that curve and flow.

Now you can draw in the right side of her hair.

Sketch in the rest of her curls, arm, jacket and camisole top.

Sketch in the jacket and her curls on the other side. If you haven't already, you can erase your guidelines.

It is always great to shade in your drawing lightly. You can use a circular or diagonal sketching direction to shade her face, hair, jacket, and top with a 9B pencil very lightly. Use the pencil on it's side as in step 10 for a wider swath (coverage)

Description: This is one of my original drawings by looking at a reference picture without any tool aids or scaling. Since this tutorial is about "How to Draw a Woman," I thought Katherine Pierce with her sassy and womanly ways would be the perfect picture. Nina Dobrev brilliantly plays this vixen vampire in "The Vampire Diaries," and she was a rival to Elena Gilbert, her doppelganger, for the love of Stefan.
