Artist: Dawn / November 9, 2011

Step 1.

This step is going to need a ruler, pencil, and eraser. You can go without the ruler if you are good with making straight lines. Draw one vertical line to the right of your paper, and then two horizontal lines like you see here.

Step 2.

Next, draw in some cone like shapes for the edging of the two snow covered pine tress that are the closest objects on the paper.

Step 3.

You will now draw in the ground work starting with the walking path that starts under under the pine tree leaves or branches. Next, draw in some smaller trees like so, as well as the park bench.

Step 4.

To get this scene in a real wonderland like mood, draw in the surrounding line that forms the pond or lake, and then draw in the distant foothills in the background like you see ere. Lastly, draw the figures that are ice skating, and here is where yo

Step 5.

Finally, draw in the tree line on both sides of the drawing like so, and you can choose to go with a sunset, or a night time sky. Either way you will need to sketch in the clouds, and hen erase the guidelines and mistakes.

Step 6.

When you are finally done, your drawing should look like the one you see here. Color, or tweak your sketch, it's all up to you.

Description: I did mention that I was submitting wintery goodness based tutorials today right? Up next is what everyone reads about in stories, books, and magazines. Yesterday I made a drawing based on what we know as a ‘winter wonderland’. Now understand that I didn’t go all out and create something extravagant, but that's because I really wanted everyone to enjoy this lesson. I also left things sort of up in the air so you can tweak the concept drawing to your liking. All I did here was set the ground work for you to understand "how to draw a winter wonderland" landscape for the upcoming winter holiday season. You can add some falling snow, an iron style lamp post next to the bench, and even some wintery animals scurrying about. As you can see I also drew in two silhouette figures ice skating on the frozen over pond for added intimacy. You can do whatever you want; I just want you to have fun as you learn the ropes on drawing a winter wonderland. So go ahead and get busy and I will also get started on the next submission. Peace people and enjoy!
