How to Draw a Wing

Now it's finally time to start this lesson on how to draw a wing. To start, draw the shape of a wing that is bald or has no feathers.

You will now gradually start adding the forearm of the wing line so, and then begin adding the wing shapes like you see here. At this point the feathers look a lot like fingers.

Continue to draw the feathers along the whole length of the wing like so, and be sure that each line is a bit off from the next.

For your last drawing step, all you need to do is sketch in some minor feathery detailing along the inside of the wings structure like so. When that is done, you can start erasing all the lines and shapes that you drew in step one to make your wing l

When all is said and done, your wing should come out looking like the one you see here. Now you can draw another to make a set, and use them on your favorite fantasy creature, bird, or being.

Description: Looking back on some of the old lessons I uploaded in the past, I found that I haven’t done a recent tutorial that is an updated version on "how to draw wings", step by step. Drawing wings is one of my favorite things to sketch because a lot of the animals, and fantasy creatures I love, usually have a set of really awesome wings. There is so many different ways one can draw a pair of wings. You can choose to draw a set that is specifically for a certain creature like demon wings, or for an animal like Pegasus the horse. Another popular style to draw are for angels, and bats. But out of all the animals and beings I have listed, none is more popular than the dragon. Dragon wings are always going to be top rated when it comes to drawing or sketching out a pair. I for one love how incredibly massive, and beautiful wings can make an animal, creature, human, or dragon look when designed the right way. Of course there are animals that are born with flappers, and these animals are birds. Some birds use wings to fly, and yet some birds have wings but can’t fly like the chicken. No matter how you look at it, these feathery, or skin based devices have a purpose, and this purpose is to travel. Out of all the animals and creatures in the world, one thing remains the same, they are all made up of skin and bones like anything else. A wing consist of a forearm, second finger, third finger, fourth finger, and fifth finger. If you have always wanted to learn how to draw wings, now is your chance to learn from a very informative lesson that will show you how to create your very own set of wings that will sure to please any artist, or person. To make things real simple, I decided to focus on just one wing so that when you draw a pair, you are able to understand the genetic make-up of these odd expansions that are a part of a birds body. In all I think you will enjoy this tutorial. I mean after all, doesn’t everyone want to teach themselves "how to draw a wing" for future sketches?
