how to draw a Tribal Butterfly
1
The first thing you want to do is lightly sketch out the basic shape. Do not rush this; keep adjusting until you are satisfied with the proportions.
2
Here we are gonna start sharpening the right wing. The key to good tribal is smooth curves and sharp angles. Again; adjust until you are satisfied; it is your drawing. Sketch light till you have the wing correct.
3
Time for the left wing. Remember; smooth curves; sharp angles. Also i use marker for visibility; you should use pencil till you are absolutely satisfied with the drawing. Pencil erases; marker does not.
4
This is where we add detail to the wings. I put some lines in the wings and some more tribal lining along the wingtips. This step i did over and over till i was satisfied with my design pattern.
5
Here is the design pattern i chose; but feel free to play around with your own ideas; just remember; sharp angles and smooth curves.
6
Here i fill in the butterflys "body" and start on the tribal lining above and below the butterfly. Here its especially important to remember. . . . Sharp angles and smooth curves.
7
Almost done; here i thickened the tribal lining above and below the butterfly. I chose to leave the middle white. If you would rather fill it all in black or color the middle area use this step to do so.
