How to Draw a Supervolcano, Supervolcano

Step 1.


For the first step you will simply draw out the mound to create the shape of the supervolcano you are about to draw. Notice the sloped sides and the slightly wavy pattern to the lining.

Step 2.


Now that the mound is created we can start sketching out the crack like shaped lines which is the streaming of lava pouring from the top of the volcano. Once the vein like lines are sketched in, you can start drawing the sparks of shooting lava omitt   

Step 3.


To show how massive in size this supervolcano is, draw smaller mounds or rocky foothills on the left and right sides of your drawing paper. Notice some branches peeking through the small mountain mound. Sketch in the detailing to the lava rocks, and    

Step 4.


You will now start creating a pool of hat steaming magma or lava which surrounds the base of the volcano. Take your time with this step because you want to make sure that the lava looks like an actual river, or pond in detail. Some of the lines are t   

Step 5.


Finally for the last drawing step, begin sketching out some the background behind the volcano. This includes the small mountain foothills as well as the tree line. When you feel confident that the scenery looks up to par, you can start cleaning up an   

Step 6.


When you're done, you should have a drawing that looks like the one you see here. All that needs to be done now is coloring in your work.

Description: Every now and again I will get the urge to create something really cool. The other day, my little sister and I where watching a documentary that was all about volcanos, and supervolcanoes. Yes people there are such thing as supervolcanoes, and the reason behind their name is to express how massive their eruptions are, and how damaging they can be. This tutorial will show you "how to draw a supervolcano", step by step. I’m not going to get into details about how massive the damage can be if one of these massive eruptions came into play. As of right now there are six known supervolcanoes, and they are scattered around the world. One of the more known places is Yellowstone, and then there is Long Valley, Valles Caldera, Lake Toba which is located in North Sumatra Indonesia, next there is the supervolcano located in Taupo Volcano in North Island New Zealand, and finally the supervolcano in Aira Caldera in Kagoshima Prefecture Kyūshū, Japan. Now, to my understanding a supervolcano is when a volcano has the ability to produce an eruption ejection greater than two hundred forty cubic miles. These eruptions are so devastating, they are able to change the weather into an ice age state, which will then inevitably kill animal life to a point of extinction. I tried replicating in a very mild manner a supervolcano in a beginning stage of its eruption, but I don’t think it would be so subtle as I drew it. This tutorial is a great piece to tackle if you have a school project on volcanoes, and it is also an awesome mass to draw for fun. I really enjoyed drawing a supervolcano with you guys yesterday during live, and I can’t wait to join you all again today.
