How to Draw a Decaying Skull

Let's start off by drawing a head guide shape like so and then sketch in the facial guidelines.

In this second step all you will have to do is begin forming the head shape by using the guide you just made, then draw the detailed structure of the bony cheeks.

In this next step let's sketch out the crooked shapes for each eye socket like so, then draw in the nasal cavity. Make sure there are notches on the sides of the nose lining to give this decaying skull age. Also sketch in some wrinkles and definition

You will now draw in the top part of the mouth followed by the crooked, aged teeth.

Up next, draw in the thick lower part of the mouth which is the jaw structure, chin and teeth. Add detailing to the side of the jaw too. The bottom teeth are also crooked and aged as well.

For the last step all you have to do is draw in the straggly pieces of hair and all the cracks, roots or veins and the dimpling above the top row of teeth. Erase all the mistakes and you are all set.

Description: Everyone knows that when you are put in the ground any flesh on the corps' body rots away or decays. Yesterday I was feeling real crappie so I was inspired to make a drawing on how I felt. So today, this skull tut is going to be how to draw a decaying skull, step by step. You can see the process of the decaying skull is almost done. There are some veins left or maybe they are just there for effects. One thing I do know, is that human hair somehow almost always remains no matter how much the body has rotted away. I myself would like to be cremated. The very thought of death, and having my body rot in the ground makes me take a deep breath because I feel my soul will forever be trapped. I would rather have my remains burned and scatted into a tree sapling so I can grow with the tree until it reaches 200 years old. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this concept.
