Step 1.
Let us start out like we always do and that is by drawing the guides for the head, torso and back end. Once those shapes are drawn you can sketch in the facial guides as well as the guides for the limbs.

Starting with the head draw the structure of the wolf's head, ears and snout. Once that is done draw in the short, but thick ears.

Step 3.
You can now draw in the eyes which should be almost almond shaped and dark, then draw the tip of the wolf's nose.

All you have to do here is draw the bottom part of the jaw to finish off the muzzle.

Sketch in the fluff or wolf's fur/coat detailing all over the face and ears like so. This is to create that texture, as you know wolves are very puffy and soft.

Begin sketching the wolf's neck. This part of the wolf's body should be thick, fluffy and have contours.

Continue to work on the wolf by drawing the front legs and paws. When that is done sketch in the back, some of the back end and then the hairy tummy.

Step 9.
The detailing and definition comes next. Sketch in the fur to create that fluffy coat and to add texture to the sketch. When that is done sketch in the claws or nails on all the paws and then sketch in the wolf's tail. You are now done which means it
's time to erase the mistakes and guides. You should actually do this before you add the texture detailing.

That's it, here is the line art now that you are done. All you have to do now is either add some color or add shading to your wolf sketch.

Description:
How many times have you looked at images on wolves whether they be cartoon style, tribal style, real photos, or just plain old concept drawings? Since I'm a crazed wolf fan I am always looking at art on the wolf. My favorite wolf species is the timber wolf, and that is the lesson you will be getting right now. Here is how to draw a realistic sketch of a wolf, step by step. I love sketches because they are viewed in a raw manner. There is no colors, no black lines no real ugly features that can make a drawing look fake. This is one of my favorite sketches of a wolf and I do hope that most of you enjoy it too. I have to beat it because I want to get the rest of my lessons up before days end. Have fun and remember to howl at the moon when it's full.
