Step 1.

Welcome everyone. Let's get right started and going on the right hoof. Head first. The head is rounder from the side than it is from the front or the back. When you look at the head from the front or 3/4 view it will appear more oval than round. The

Step 2.

Here are some more examples of heads. This time for the bronies. The head is longer and more square at the nose than the female ponies. The eyes are also a bit smaller.

Step 3.

Eyes come in all shapes and styles. Knowing where to place the highlights on the iris can mean all the difference in your pony picture. Placing them too high or too low can throw things off sometimes.

Step 4.

Expressions are fun. Here is a whole range of expressions to reference for your pony. Everything from happy, to content. From angry to sad and even scared and determined.

Step 5.

One of the optional parts for your pony is a unicorn horn. It's placed on the forehead about level with the middle of the eyes, but not as far back as the ears.

Step 6.

Or you can make your pony a Pegasus pony and give it wings. I've included several different examples of how the wings look. Folded and open, going up and down. See how there are three four feathers on the wing. The second from the one furthest from b

Step 7.

The wing should connect to the body roughly at the shoulder like it's shown here.

Step 8.

Now for the legs. In my opinion, the legs are the hardest part of drawing a pony because if you mess up on one, you can mess the whole look of the picture up. Making sure that the legs are all the same length, that all the joints are in the right pla

...as well as the hind leg.

Step 11.

And here are three of the styles of hooves used for the show. There is the plain which is seen the most. There is a little bit of a hoof, not really seen in the show. And then there is the hairy, like you see on Big Mac.

Step 12.

Woo now time to discuss hair. Any style will look wonderful on your pony as long as you place it right. You want to make sure that the hair comes up off the head of your pony and doesn't stick to the shape of the head. It will make it look like they

Step 13.

The tail should begin where the tail bone should end. It will start out narrow, then depending on the style, will stay tapered, or will spread out from there.

Step 14.

Designing fashions for your pony can be fun, but in it's own way difficult. Understanding how the clothes fit the chest, middle and hips. The skirt will come up from the back and depending on the length of the skirt and the hight and volume of the ta

Step 15.

Now we'll get started on actually drawing a pony. We'll draw three circles. One for the head, one for the shoulders and one for the hips. We'll connect them with a line that will show the position of the body and what way it's facing. We'll also map

Step 16.

Next we'll draw the snout and mouth and the side of the face behind the nose.

Step 17.

From there we'll draw the eyes, horn and ears.

Step 18.

Now we'll connect the head to the neck and bring the neck down to the chest and the back.

Step 19.

Then onto the front legs. We'll put one up in a fun position for this picture.

Step 20.

We'll bring the back around and draw our pony's flank.

Step 21.

Now bring that down and make the hind leg that is towards us.

Step 22.

.Now we'll draw the other back leg behind the other, giving our pony a fun and funky pose.

Step 23.

Let's giver her a funky choppy cut tail.

Step 24.

And we'll giver her a matching haircut to go with it.

Step 25.

Finally draw her cutie mark on her flank and and lets give her a microphone and some bracelets and make her a pop singer.

Step 26.

And there you have it. How to draw a pony, friendship is magic style. I hope that it helped you and I want to see all your fun designed ponies. Thanks for looking!
