Make a shape for the entire head and body of the fish like so, then sketch out the facial guide.

You will now draw out the entire outline of this Pokemon's body like so, then draw in the crescent shaped fin.

Next, draw in the lips for the mouth, then draw out the round eye. Draw in the fin on the side of the body as well as add detailing inside the mouth.

Detail the mid section of the body, then draw in the rest of the tail fin, and the definition to the dorsal fin.

Lastly draw in the hanging mustache, then draw the rest of the star shaped fins like so.

Description: So this new lesson is going to basically feature a very popular Pokemon I noticed I've yet to create a tutorial on. I wanted to show you in simple steps on 'how to draw Magikarp from Pokemon', step by step. This fish's final transformation stage is Gyarados, which is one of my favorites (the huge blue Loch Ness fish looking creature). I will break down in small steps to form the very shape of Magikarps body, and the individual details that pattern along the body. It's important to keep the inside lines thinner than the boldness of the outer lines, which of course, glues together the entire composition. Make sure you prepare yourself with adequate drawing tools, a kneaded eraser would help if you're challenging yourself to shade and highlight your Magikarp.
