How to Draw Kaoru Matsubara, Powerpuff Girls Z

1

Make the circle for the head, then sketch in the facial guidelines as well as the shoulder and torso lines.

2

Sketch out the shape of the face, then draw the flat lined bangs as well as some of the hair that falls on the side of her face. Draw in the small round band, then proceed to step three.

3

Draw in Kaoru's face by making the shapes for her eyes, followed by the mouth, nose and ears.

4

Kaoru has spiked hair so be sure to begin drawing her spiked chunks like so. The shapes of each chunk should be different in size.

5

Draw the other side of her head, or hair, then move to step six where will will begin tackling her torso.

6

Draw the opening line for her jacket. Be sure that the collar flaps over the sides like so, and the zipper lines are bold.

7

Draw in her arms which look like they are in an action pose, then draw the left hand and the doughnut shaped shirt cuff.

8

Finish drawing Kaoru by sketching out the rest of her vest. This includes the buttons, and striped lines along the edge and collar.

9

Once you have erased your mistakes the drawing should come out looking like the one you see here. Color her in and then add this anime version of Buttercup to your collection.

Description: So since the anime version of Buttercup was requested, I wanted to make sure to submit the tutorial on "how to draw Kaoru" from Powerpuff Girls Z first since that is what people wanted or asked for first. This thirteen year old tomboy is still very much like the original version of Buttercup that we know. She is into anything that has nothing to do with girls or anything girly. She doesn't even like the fact that she is part of a threesome hero team that consists of two other girls that are opposite from her in every aspect of the word. Since she is more like a demanding male instead of a feminine girl, Kaoru is the toughest of the two. Her signature weapon is a Daruma Otoshi hammer, and she transforms when she uses the phrase “Powered Buttercup”! I like drawing the Powerpuff Girls Z characters because they are anime in form which makes them simple to replicate. I hope you learn from this lesson, because that is the whole goal here. Adios amigos and enjoy!
