1

Start by sketching out the face/head guide for Jim. Sketch in the facial guidelines as well.

2

Define the structure of Jim's face on the left side like you see here. You will also include the hairline as well.

3

Continue to draw in his hair. As you know Jim had long shaggy style hair which had layers so sketch in the style you see here and then draw the neck and shoulder.

4

We will now form the right side of his face in blocks or sections. Start with the outline of the eye and then draw in the lips, face shape and chin.

5

Finish the whole concept by drawing the left eye, and then his nose. You are all done once you have erased your mistakes.

6

Now just add color or shading to finish everything off.

Description: I've done a lesson before on the face you see in this lesson but none in the form of the one you see here. This singer, songwriter/poet inspires me everyday when I am working or when I just want to relax and draw some wonderous art. Today I will do another concept on how to draw Jim Morrison from The Doors, step by step. Jim Morrison is a man that I turn to when I am feeling like I have nothing to create. Since he was a creator himself, listening to his music and poetry inspires me to draw a lot of the stuff you see on Dragoart today. Have you ever heard that saying where it says "Artists take form of musicians, painters, and poets and with the creations of musicians, painters and poets of past, rise the birth of musicians, painters and poets of today". Well if you haven't now you have. That is how I feel and I know that to some of you Jim Morrison was more than just a clown on stage or more than the Lizard King. He was a person who wanted to live, and he wanted to live and spread his poetry. Enjoy this tut on drawing Jim Morrison. I will return with other tuts so stick around.
