How To Draw Jay Baruchel

1

To Jay Baruchel, we should first sketch out some basic construction lines. Use a 2H or harder pencil and sketch very lightly so that the lines are easy to erase later on after we ink. Sketch the basic oval shape of the head, neck, and upper shoulders

Now that our guide lines are in place, let's begin working on the eyes. They should rest directly on the horizontal guide line and be squinted. Make sure that the iris and pupils are looking in the exact same direction as one another. Draw numerous c

Next, draw his nose with the help of your vertical construction line for placement. The nose should end about half way between the eyes and chin. The bridge of his nose has a slight bump, and the tip of his nose points upwards. Although his nostril h

Jay is one of those guys who almost always seems to be smiling, or on the verge of it. Draw him with a big smile on his face. The mouth should be half way between his nose and chin. His upper lip should be considerably lower than his thick bottom lip

Draw the contours of his face and jaw lin. His face is fairly long and he has kind of a big forehead. His chin has two bumps on it and his jaw line is a smooth upward curve.

We should only be able to see his right ear at this angle, which is very rounded. Almost a perfect oval. The top of the ear should align with the eyebrows, the bottom of the ear should align with the tip of his nose. Be sure to draw plenty of curved

Jay has a thin neck. The back of the neck should protrude from behind the earlobe, and the front of the neck should be beneath his chin. Notice how both lines are curved and point towards his back, rather than being straight up and down.

Draw him wearing a dress shirt, but we can only see the top of his shoulders and some of the folded collar. Draw a few vertical creases in the fabric of the shirt while you're at it.

Now that we are done penciling the image we can ink it. Use either Micron markers, or a brush and India ink to do your inking. A brush works great when inking hair, since it allows you to feather nicely. Carefully go over each line with patience and

You can add a greater sense of depth to the image by giving it shadow. Use either a thick felt tip marker, or a brush and ink to do so. Establish your light source, and in this case it is coming from the above right side of the page. Shade the unders

If you need to make any corrections you can use white ink or opaque white paint. You can also use it to add more highlights, like in the hair or shirt. And that's how you draw the hilarious Jay Baruchel! Congrats!
