How To Draw James Franco

1

To draw James Franco, we should first sketch out some basic construction lines. Use a 2H or harder pencil and sketch very lightly so that the lines are easy to erase later on after we ink. Sketch the basic oval shape of the head, neck, and upper shou

Let's draw his eyes first. Make sure they line up evenly on the horizontal construction line of the face. They should be roughly one eye width apart and squinted tightly. Draw numerous small wrinkles in the corners of his eyes as well as curved creas

3

His eyebrows should be slightly high. They are rather thick and long, but fairly straight.

4

Next, use your vertical construction line to draw the nose. The nose should end about half way between the eyes and chin. The bridge of his nose should have a slight inward curve to it at this angle. The flesh around his nostrils is somewhat thick.

Draw him with a smirk on his face. His upper lip is thin, but his lower lip is a bit thicker. We should only be able to see his upper teeth since he's not smiling too wide. Because of our perspective, notice how his teeth appear to get smaller on the

Now draw the contours of his face and jaw line. He has high cheek bones and a square jaw.

We should only be able to see a small portion of his right earlobe peeking out from behind his cheek bone at this angle, but we can see his entire left ear. The ear is very oval in shape and should have plenty of curved creases inside it. The tip of

Franco sometimes has a goatee beard. Use a sharp pencil and draw thin, random whiskers all around his mouth and chin. The whiskers should be thicker on the chin. Notice how there is a bald patch beneath either side of his lower lip.

His neck is kind of thick. The contours of the neck should curve to the left to make them seem more natural, rather than being straight vertical lines. Draw a thin vertical line next to his Adam's apple. The bottom of the neck can be cut off by a cur

We can give him a jacket over the tee shirt. Draw the collar wrapping around the back of his neck. The collar should get thicker as it bleeds off the page. Draw his upper shoulders sloping downwards at an angle.

12

Now that we are done penciling the image we can ink it. Use either Micron markers, or a brush and India ink to do your inking. A brush works great when inking hair, since it allows you to feather nicely. Carefully go over each line with patience and

You can add a greater sense of depth to the image by giving it shadow. Use either a thick felt tip marker, or a brush and ink to do so. Establish your light source, and in this case it is coming from the upper left side of the page. Add shadow to the

If you need to make any corrections you can use white ink or opaque white paint. You can also use it to add more highlights, suck as to the hair. And that's how you draw James Franco! Well done!
