How to Draw Donnie Darko

Begin with a simple facial guide for the head and obviously the face. You will then sketch in the facial guidelines.

Next, sketch out the bone structure for the left side of the Rabbit's face like so, then draw in the jaw and chin line for both Donnie and the Rabbit.

Next, sketch out the right side of the face which belongs to Donnie Darko. Donnie is played by Jake Gyllenhaal so you sort of have to make sure that it resembles him. Sketch in the bangs, then move along to step four.

You will now continue on with drawing the top portion of both heads. For the Rabbit's side you have to also draw the slender shaped ear, and the bony brow.

You will need to draw the right side of Donnie's head/hair and when you do this also include the ear lobe.

We will begin sketching out the Rabbit's face. Draw the large eye socket then sketch out the shape of the nose. Draw the brow bone for the rabbit, then move to step seven.

Since the Rabbit from Donnie Darko is skeletal in formation, the mouth should be like exposed teeth and bone. Draw the mouth/lips and then move to the next step.

Draw the long teeth for the Rabbit and then sketch in the definition for the nose.

Draw in Jake's or Donnie's mouth, then add the chin indent as well as the frown line.

Sketch Donnie's eyebrow, then sketch in the shape or curve for the nose.

You will finish drawing Donnie's eye, then add shading around the eye to add darkness and expressive features. You are going for an intense stare. Erase all the mistakes then you are finished.

Description: Today I have a few lessons that I know you will all love. I want to start with something exciting and full of character. Here is "how to draw Donnie Darko", step by step. This depiction of Donnie Darko has his face split with half the rabbit from the movie, and half of Donnie's face. I love how this sketch came out, and for those of you who are fans of the movie, already know that you have to watch it more then twice to really understand what the whole thing is about.
