Artist:

/ April 11, 2012
Step 1.
Let's begin with a circle shape that will be used as her head and face guide. Sketch in the facial guideline inside of the shape, then move forward to step two.

Step 2.
Begin sketching out the actual shape or structure of Carly Rae's face. Start with the forehead, and then slowly move down until her cheek, chin, and jawline is drawn. Notice how she has somewhat of a square jawline.

Step 3.
Using the facial guideline that you made in step one, begin drawing out her eyes. As you can see the shapes of her eyes are squint, but really thicken on the ends of her top lids as well as at the ends of her bottom lids. Draw a swift line for the no
se shape before you proceed to step four.

Step 4.
To make her eyes seem bigger, draw the crease line of her upper lid like so, then sketch in the eyelashes which should be long and batty. Draw the iris' of her eyes as well as color in the pupils. You will then start sketching out the flares of her n
ose as well as the indent above her lip. Slowly start sketching out the shape of her mouth and lips like so, and be sure to have her mouth slightly open.

Step 5.
Her face is all set. Now all you have to start working on is her hairs. Her style goes just past her shoulders, but we won't be drawing it that long because the reference I used has her hair cut off just past a neck. Start with her chunky style bangs
. Draw them out making sure to give them a poofed out or bouncy look. The edges of her bangs are sharp or razor like, and the length of her hair should fall on her cheek around the jaw. Draw and color in her eyebrows like so, then add the lining for her neck as well as the detailing to her hair and neck.

Step 6.
For the last drawing step all you have to do is continue drawing the rest of her hair until you are finished. The outer lining should be thick, and the definition strands should be thin. Erase your mistakes to make Carly Rae look perfect.

Here is the line art when you are all done. Now you can choose to leave her as a sketch, or color her in it's your choice. Thanks so much for joining me with another portrait lesson.

Description:
There is a new face out and about and she is going to be a big star. She's a Canadian pop artist that currently has a new single called “Call Me Maybe”. My sister was actually the one that told me about her. She said “have you heard this song called Call Me maybe?”. I said no, she then took me to Youtube and put in the video. I said “wow..., well it looks like I have to make a tutorial on her”. When I was drawing Live yesterday anyone that was a fan of hers knew who exactly I was drawing. Now today everyone will have the chance to learn "
how to draw Carly Rae Jepsen
", step by step. I know a lot of folks just refer to her as just Carly Rae, but I think this Canadian singer needs to have her full name displayed. Her singing career began when she appeared on Canadian Idol. Guess who signed Carly Rea? Yup, the same one who signed Justin Bieber, Scooter Braun. Well I guess her fate is good if she is working with the same guy that signed Justin Bieber. Anyways, before her single Call Me Maybe she first did a cover song originated from John Denver called “Sunshine On My Shoulders” back in 2008. Now that her video has nearly twenty million views on Youtube, I'm sure her fame and success will only expect more “hits” from her. I look forward to seeing how her career turns out because as of right now, she is on the right track. Have fun drawing Carly Rae and I will be back with some more lessons that will have you smiling even more. Peace out and like always enjoy!
