Description: I will now fill a request that was made about a week ago by a DragoArt member. As you know I have been getting really good with drawing faces and because of that I have submitted some pretty popular people lately like Brittney Spears, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna. I will now show you "how to draw Bob Marley step by step". Bob Marley is probably one of the most influential musicians that has ever lived. Now remember, I didn't say that he was “THE” most, I said he is “ONE” of the most. Bob Marley has been known as being four things; the first Third World superstar, a Rasta Prophet, definitely a visionary, and of course a revolutionary artist. He was born Robert Nesta Marley on February 6, 1945. He was as you know a Jamaican singer and songwriter that had passion and emotion behind his music. Before he became the musician we know, he was the lead singer of a band named “The Wailers” from the years 1964-1974. After that he remained with the band but instead of just “The Wailers” they were called “Bob Marley and The Wailers”. The group took on this name from 1974 until the year Marley died in 1981. The style of reggae music wouldn't be what it is today if it weren't for the talent and style of Bob Marley. It is he that started the whole concept of Jamaican music and he is also revered for his style of creative play. He was born in a small village named Nine Mile located in Saint Ann Parish Jamaica. His fathers name was Norvel Sinclair Marley and he was of English decent living as a Caucasian-Jamaican. His fathers family came out of Essex England and even though Marley is half white and half black, he never labeled himself as a bi-racial child. He said “I don't have prejudice against meself. My father was a white and my mother was black. Them call me half-caste or whatever. Me don't dip on nobody's side. Me don't dip on the black man's side nor the white man's side. Me dip on God's side, the one who create me and cause me to come from black and white”. Although he had a father that married his mother and provided stability for the two, Bob very rarely seen his father because he was always away on trips. When Bob Marley was just ten years old his father died of a heart attack at the age of sixty. Growing up as a kid wasn't easy for the youngster. He had to face the everyday struggles of racial prejudice because he came from a mixed race family. Back in the fifties was a tough time for Marley but he always keep his head up and prayed to the all mighty god for guidance and support. We as fans know of Marley's music and some of the more popular songs are still listened to and played on air today. Songs like “I Shot the Sheriff”, No Woman, No Cry”, “Could You Be Loved”, “Stir It Up”, Redemption Song”, and the very popular “One Love” are some of my favorite songs as well. In the movie “I Am Legend”, Will Smith listens to Redemption Song which is written and performed by Bob Marley and The Wailers. All in all I think that this man has changed the way that we listen to music and he has also opened up the minds to many, many people of all ages and creeds. Bob Marley died on May 11, 1981 at the age of 36 from a deadly spread of melanoma to his lungs and brain. In the year of 1994 Bob Marley was added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He left behind a total of twelve children two of which are his adopted children from his wife's previous marriage. I think you will find that learning “how to draw Bob Marley” is going to be fun and extremely creative. I hope you love this lesson as I did drawing it. Peace out and happy drawing!
