How to Draw Chibi R2-D2

Make the shapes and guides for the frame of chibi R2. This includes the circle and the oblong sphere shape.

Draw the dome shape for the top part of R2's robotic body and then draw the rest of the shape which resembles a can of soda.

Now you can draw the arms on each side of the body like so. Be sure to draw the base of the arms in a square like shape. Add the detailing too.

Create the detailing to the legs and underbody of R2. When that is done you should be set to proceed to the next step.

Now you can draw the shapes that makes R2, R2. Draw the block shape which will house his one solid colored eye and then draw the lines that create the grooves for the body as well.

Lastly, draw the spaces for the gadgets that makes up the detailing of R2-D2's body. He is a robot so make him look like one. Erase the mistakes if you made any and clean up the drawing a bit. When that is done you should have a refined piece of chib

Description: This was a tricky robot from Star Wars to create because R2-D2 is already a small character. All I did for this lesson on how to draw chibi R2-D2, step by step was scale down the size a bit. I also warped the body a little to try and show that this is a mini version of R2. Anyways, the concept is the same. He still has the important parts of his robotic body so I think that would be good to know. I have several other chibi Star Wars character drawing tutorials coming up so try and stick around to see what they are. I loved this one, but the best is yet to come.
