How to Draw an Onion

Step 1.


Begin with a circle for the shape of the onion.

Step 2.


Thicken the shape of the onion making it bold and a bit bigger than the first shape. Sketch in the detailing for the husk that covers the onion, and you will also begin sketching out the ruffled stem.

Step 3.


Finish sketching out the husky stem like so, and be sure to make the curled pieces long enough to make a curl.

Step 4.


For the last drawing step all you have o do is sketch out the root strings at the ends. Erase your mistakes then you're done.

Step 5.


In the end your onion looks well, like an onion. Color it in, and that's it.

Description: This may seem like an odd lesson to be submitting, but it's not the first time that someone has asked me to make a tutorial on "how to draw an onion", step by step. Onions are one of the most flavorful veggies you can add to a dish. They make soups and stews taste that much better, and they are also an absolute must ingredient to add when making broths. Another great way to combine the onion in food is sliced and sauteed over a nice lean piece of steak. Steak topped with mushrooms and onions with a side of creamy mashed potatoes makes a delicious dish. Drawing onions is really easy which makes this lesson fun. I know there isn't too much to say about this underground grown food, so I will zip it so you can tackle this tear jerker. Peace people and try to keep the tears away by eating some bread or you can wear some goggles.
