Description: I hope that you are all enjoying my last tutorial on the grim reaper, he came out pretty cool right? I know I like it too. In this next tutorial I will show you how to draw a skull head design. What that basically means is that you can take this sketch and use him for a tattoo or just make something more out of him. I love the way this drawing came out too. I mean who knew that a skull head could come out looking so cool. The way I tackled this drawing was to first do a rough sketch of a slender looking skull head and then start from there. I had to sit there and decide what exactly I wanted my skull head to look like. So I had to think of a cool design that I felt someone would put on their body as a tattoo. I was trying to rough sketch some pieces together by adding ties, a little bling bling, and a rose. And then bamm, I came up with a design that I felt was really cool. I took the idea of the top hat from the skull of Slashes skull head character that is on the Guns N' Roses cross icon. Then I added a cool looking burning cigar. I was gonna put some diamonds or something like that in his eyes, but that winded up looking kinda stupid. I mean don't get me wrong it probably would have looked cool if the skull had a money type appeal to it but he doesn't. I colored the picture in using Photoshop CS3 and that is where I added all the graphics like the smoke skull coming from the cigar and the red glowing eyes. These effects can also be applied on paper as well with some good coloring pencils and light sketching and shading. I think that this skull head design would make an awesome looking tattoo because I can totally picture a rocker or biker with a tattoo like this one some where on his body. I'm gonna tell you why I added a tattoo category. It is because I have been getting into this show called “L.A Ink” which is about the everyday life of a popular tattoo parlor in Los Angeles California. It is so cool how they tattoo someone and all the tattoo artist they have working there are freakin talented, I mean they are sick. The best part is that a female owns the whole thing. So to me that is pretty inspiring. If you think about it even if you are a tattoo artist, your still an artist. This design is awesome and I know that I did a good job. I hope you like this drawing lesson on how to draw a skull head design step by step. I will be back in a while with more cool drawing tutorials in a bit. I can't wait for you guys to tackle this tutorial, I know you will love it!
